API keys

A key is how your code signs in as you. Make one for each place it runs, so revoking the one on a decommissioned server does not break the notebook.

Sign in to make a key.

Keys belong to a full account — an anonymous session lives in one browser, and a key would outlive it. A free account comes with credits the API can spend straight away.

A few things worth knowing:

  • Keys start with cor_sk_. Secret scanners recognise the prefix, so a key committed to a public repository is usually reported before anyone uses it.
  • An account can hold 10 active keys.
  • A key opens the API and nothing else: it cannot read your threads in the app, change billing or make more keys. Those need the browser session.
  • Everything a key starts is billed to this account. See credits and limits.
